Every city has certain addresses that seem to come alive when the weather changes. In Vienna, summer evenings draw people upwards, away from busy streets and historic façades, towards terraces where the skyline becomes part of the experience. As daylight softens and rooftops begin to glow under the evening sun, the city reveals a different personality — one shaped by long conversations, chilled glasses and the pleasure of lingering outdoors. What makes a rooftop destination memorable when every major city now competes for attention above street level?
According to the Austrian National Tourist Office, Vienna recorded more than 18.9 million overnight stays in 2024, continuing its position among Europe’s most visited urban destinations. Yet some of the city’s most sought-after experiences are not found at ground level. They take place above the rooftops, where architecture, gastronomy and atmosphere come together against a constantly changing backdrop.

This season, Atmosphere Rooftop Bar returns with the reopening of its highly anticipated Summer Garden, continuing its collaboration with the prestigious Champagne house Perrier-Jouët. Following the success of previous editions, the concept remains centred on a distinctive visual identity inspired by the Maison’s iconic anemone motif. Floral elements, elegant design details and carefully curated greenery transform the rooftop into a secluded retreat suspended above the city. The result feels far removed from the pace of urban life below, offering guests a setting that balances sophistication with a sense of ease.
The partnership with Perrier-Jouët feels particularly fitting in this environment. For generations, the Champagne house has cultivated a strong connection to art, nature and design, themes that find a natural expression throughout the Summer Garden. Soft botanical references appear throughout the space, creating an atmosphere that changes subtly from bright afternoons to the golden light of sunset and into the evening. This year also introduces a new chapter for the venue. For the first time, Atmosphere Rooftop Bar opens from Friday to Sunday from 12:30 p.m., expanding its culinary offering with a dedicated lunch experience. Designed around seasonal ingredients and Mediterranean influences, the menu brings a lighter daytime rhythm to a destination traditionally associated with evenings and sunset gatherings. Whether for a business meeting, a relaxed lunch with friends or a leisurely weekend escape, the new format invites guests to experience the rooftop from a different perspective.
The menu reflects a contemporary approach to summer dining. Tuna tartare arrives with ponzu vinaigrette, ajo blanco and grapes, balancing freshness with delicate acidity. Burrata is paired with organic tomatoes and parsley vinaigrette, celebrating the simplicity of seasonal ingredients. A truffle pizza featuring French black truffle, béchamel and Reblochon offers a richer alternative, while the Endive & Roquefort Salad combines apple, candied pistachios and walnut vinaigrette for a more structured composition. Salade Niçoise remains faithful to Mediterranean traditions with tuna, tomatoes, capers, olives and quail egg, while a vegan Caesar salad with cashews, chickpeas and avocado offers a contemporary interpretation of a familiar favourite.

As the day progresses, the focus gradually shifts towards one of the venue’s defining rituals: sunset. The rooftop has become known for these moments, when Vienna’s skyline changes colour and the atmosphere becomes increasingly animated. Cocktails remain central to the experience, with a newly reimagined drinks menu inspired by coastal destinations and international summer escapes.
Among the highlights is the Catalina Mixer, combining Don Julio Blanco Tequila with hibiscus and raspberry for a vibrant and refreshing profile. The Amalfi Fizz draws inspiration from the Italian coastline, blending gin, limoncello, thyme and lemon into a bright and aromatic composition. Alongside these creations, guests can enjoy a selection of Perrier-Jouët Champagne cocktails, each developed to complement the season and the setting. What distinguishes Atmosphere Rooftop Bar is not simply its location, but its ability to create a sense of occasion around everyday moments. A lunch becomes an afternoon escape. A drink after work becomes an evening overlooking one of Europe’s most beautiful capitals. A glass of Champagne becomes part of a larger experience shaped by design, gastronomy and place.
As summer returns to Vienna, the reopening of the Summer Garden offers another invitation to experience the city from above. With its partnership with Perrier-Jouët, its expanded culinary programme and its renewed focus on daytime as well as evening gatherings, Atmosphere Rooftop Bar continues to establish itself as one of the season’s most desirable addresses.
