Fashion houses increasingly extend their vision beyond clothing. Interiors, furniture, hospitality and residential projects have become new ways of expressing a brand’s identity, allowing creative worlds once seen on runways to become part of everyday life. Can a fashion house translate its design language into architecture without losing its character?
KARL LAGERFELD has taken another step in that direction with the presentation of KARL LAGERFELD Residences Lisboa, the Maison’s first residential project in Portugal. Revealed through an immersive event at MAAT Central – Museu da Electricidade, the launch introduced guests to a world shaped by Karl Lagerfeld’s aesthetic vision and creative legacy.

The evening featured archival fashion looks, architectural renderings and a reconstructed version of Lagerfeld’s famous office at Rue Saint-Guillaume, complete with sketches and personal design references. Visitors moved through installations inspired by the future residence while exploring the visual language that defined one of fashion’s most influential creative figures.
Developed in partnership with Portuguese real estate company OVERSEAS, the project is located near Avenida da Liberdade and consists of ten exclusive residences. Interiors are furnished by KARL LAGERFELD MAISON and feature a restrained palette of brushed steel, lacquer finishes, stone and wood, echoing the designer’s well-known appreciation for clean lines and strong architectural forms.
The project reflects a broader shift within luxury fashion. Increasingly, brands are creating complete lifestyle experiences that extend far beyond clothing and accessories. For KARL LAGERFELD, the Lisbon residences offer a new interpretation of the values that shaped the designer’s work throughout his career: creativity, individuality and a belief that, as Lagerfeld famously said, “Elegance is an attitude.”
