Bvlgari Serpenti Tubogas Studs: When Jewellery Becomes Architecture

Jewellery increasingly occupies a space far beyond decoration alone. The strongest creations rarely function simply as accessories placed at the end of styling decisions; they frequently become objects carrying history, symbolism, craftsmanship, and identity simultaneously. Contemporary collectors increasingly look for pieces capable of existing somewhere between adornment and design, between heritage and innovation. And when a house known for some of fashion’s most recognizable symbols revisits one of its strongest icons, the conversation naturally moves beyond jewelry itself.

For Bvlgari, that conversation now takes form through the new Serpenti Tubogas Studs Capsule Collection — a reinterpretation of one of the Roman Maison’s most recognizable creations. The collection approaches the Serpenti universe through a dialogue between jewelry design and industrial influences, bringing together two materials that became central to Bvlgari’s visual language decades ago: gold and steel. Since the 1970s, this combination repeatedly appeared throughout the House’s design vocabulary, creating a relationship between refinement and strength that remains unmistakably associated with Bvlgari today.

At the center of the collection remains the serpent itself — one of the Maison’s most enduring symbols. Throughout Bvlgari’s history, Serpenti represented transformation, power, sensuality, and renewal. Across decades, the figure continuously evolved through changing interpretations while maintaining its symbolic force. For this latest chapter, the serpent receives an entirely different expression through sculptural geometry and stronger visual structure.

The collection unites three important house signatures simultaneously: the Serpenti reptile, the fluid Tubogas body, and the Clou stud. Long present throughout Bvlgari’s jewelry vocabulary, the pyramid-shaped stud enters watchmaking in a completely new way here. Integrated directly into the flexible Tubogas bracelet, the detail introduces a more graphic and architectural quality to the silhouette without sacrificing movement or softness.

What makes the approach particularly interesting is the contrast itself. Tubogas traditionally relies on fluidity and continuous movement. The stud introduces structure and interruption. One element bends. The other defines. Together they create tension between softness and geometry, allowing the bracelet to take on a stronger and more sculptural identity. Jonathan Brinbaum, Managing Director of Bvlgari Watches, described the collection as an expression of the Maison’s longstanding ambition toward innovation. By reinterpreting the archival stud and integrating it into Tubogas construction, Bvlgari created a dialogue where heritage and contemporary design comfortably exist together. Color and materials continue expanding that conversation further. Long recognized for extraordinary expertise in gemstones and chromatic combinations, Bvlgari introduces the capsule collection through four different interpretations. Each explores a different visual atmosphere while remaining connected through the same architectural language.

One version combines mother-of-pearl with 18-carat yellow gold and stainless steel, where five polished gold studs create soft luminosity across the bracelet. Another interpretation introduces carnelian alongside full yellow gold construction, where deep red tones strengthen the visual presence of partially diamond-set studs. Elsewhere, sodalite pairs mineral blue shades with rose gold and steel, while malachite introduces deep marbled green surfaces continuing the dialogue between yellow gold and stainless steel. Across all four versions, a bezel set with 38 brilliant-cut diamonds frames the watch face, while a rubellite cabochon crown introduces another recognizable Bvlgari signature. The result never feels overloaded despite the richness of materials involved. Precision keeps each element balanced.

Perhaps that remains one of Bvlgari’s strongest qualities overall. The House consistently approaches jewelry through transformation — not only through symbolism but through design itself. Serpenti continuously changes shape, mood, and expression while remaining instantly recognizable.
