Irina Shayk and the New Blumarine Woman

Fashion has always followed social moods, changing direction with shifts in culture, lifestyle, and the way people imagine themselves. According to recent market research, the global apparel market was valued at nearly $1.75 trillion in 2025 and is expected to continue growing steadily over the coming years, driven by changing consumer preferences and evolving ideas surrounding identity and personal style. As wardrobes become increasingly connected to self-expression, what happens when softness and strength occupy the same silhouette?

For Resort 2027, David Koma continues his work at Blumarine through a collection built around contradiction, placing Irina Shayk at the center of a visual narrative where romance and authority exist side by side. The proposal introduces a woman who moves comfortably between opposing ideas: sensual yet reserved, daring yet controlled, delicate yet carrying a certain sharpness beneath the surface. Irina Shayk becomes a fitting presence for this chapter, projecting a character that moves between cinematic glamour and summer ease without appearing fixed in a single role.

Koma continues his ongoing interest in Italian femininity and the lifestyles surrounding it, this time turning toward the atmosphere of summer travel and yacht culture. Resort wardrobes traditionally occupy a particular place in fashion. They suggest movement, changing locations, afternoons extending into evening events, and dressing for moments that often exist somewhere between leisure and occasion. Through Blumarine’s perspective, summer acquires a darker mood. Sun-filled days remain present, but they arrive accompanied by a woman interested in defining her own rules.

Black and white dominate much of the visual language of the collection, recalling photographs suspended between tenderness and authority. The contrast appears repeatedly across the garments themselves. A black poplin shirt with gathered cuffs intersects with a structured floral corset. An oversized sculpted shirt tied with an exaggerated bow appears alongside a sharply abbreviated white pareo culotte. Traditional categories become less rigid; formal dressing and states of undress begin sharing the same conversation. Elsewhere, silhouettes continue moving between structure and ease. A black crêpe jersey body extends into a dramatic cape finished with decorative fringe. Chantilly lace appears through floor-length dresses and shorter silhouettes framed with delicate floral macramé details. Clothing frequently creates visual tension, presenting garments that appear partly complete and partly undone, as though captured somewhere between preparation and spontaneity.

Summer references continue throughout the collection but arrive through a different perspective. Bougainvillea prints move across ruffled blouses and layered dresses, while a white crinkle-georgette design acquires movement through dramatic strands of ruffles. Lime Chantilly lace, powder-blue beading, and yellow feather embroidery introduce brighter moments into the collection without changing its overall mood. Swimwear references continue to move beyond the beach: bikini silhouettes enter daytime dressing, while oversized cardigans trimmed with marabou are layered repeatedly with unexpected intention.

Accessories complete the collection through details carrying the same visual language. Jewelry inspired by bougainvillea appears through sculptural necklaces and colorful stones. Satin pumps rest on distorted wedge heels, while leather footwear introduces floral metal details. Eveningwear continues exploring transformation: necklaces become tops, scarves become part of dresses, and tailoring acquires a different purpose altogether.

Resort collections often begin with the idea of escape. Here, however, the destination itself feels secondary. The focus remains on attitude — and on a woman who arrives already knowing exactly who she intends to be.
