Hublot Celebrates Twenty Years at the Heart of Football’s Greatest Stage

There are few events in modern entertainment capable of commanding the world’s attention quite like a UEFA Champions League final. Long before the first whistle is blown, the occasion extends far beyond football itself. It becomes a gathering point for athletes, musicians, actors, fashion figures and millions of spectators who follow every moment with extraordinary anticipation. The final is no longer simply a sporting event; it has become a cultural spectacle where sport, entertainment and luxury intersect on a global stage.

According to UEFA, the UEFA Champions League reaches a cumulative global audience of more than 450 million viewers each season, making it one of the most watched annual sporting competitions in the world. Yet what keeps audiences returning year after year is not only the football itself. It is the emotion, the unpredictability and the feeling that history can be written in a single moment. And if a match can be decided in a matter of seconds, who is responsible for measuring those seconds?

For the past decade, that responsibility has belonged to Hublot. As Official Timekeeper of the UEFA Champions League, the Swiss watchmaker has become an inseparable part of Europe’s most prestigious club competition, ensuring that every substitution, every additional minute and every decisive moment is measured with precision. This season’s final in Budapest provided another reminder of just how deeply the brand has become embedded within the world of football.

The atmosphere surrounding the 2025/26 final reflected the extraordinary reach of the modern game. Alongside players and supporters, the event welcomed a diverse group of personalities from the worlds of entertainment, music and cinema. Basketball sensation AJ Dybantsa, singer Jessica Glynne and actors Saffron Hocking and Daniel Kaluuya joined football legends Luis Figo, Johan Djourou, Claude Makélélé and Robert Pirès to celebrate an evening that represented the culmination of an entire season. Their presence illustrated how football continues to function as one of the few truly universal forms of entertainment, capable of bringing together different industries, cultures and audiences under a shared passion.

For Hublot, the evening carried additional significance. The brand is celebrating twenty years of involvement in football, a journey that began in 2006 when it became the first luxury watchmaker to enter the sport through a partnership with the Swiss national team. At the time, the decision was considered unconventional. Luxury watchmaking and football were still largely separate worlds. Two decades later, that relationship has become one of the most successful and enduring partnerships in modern sport.

Over the years, Hublot has accompanied four FIFA World Cups, five UEFA European Championships and more than 800 UEFA Champions League matches. Its distinctive fourth official’s board has become a familiar sight for supporters across the globe, appearing during some of the most dramatic moments in football history. The brand’s collaborations with players such as Kylian Mbappé, Alex Morgan and Ada Hegerberg have further strengthened its connection to the sport, while its limited-edition timepieces continue to celebrate the personalities and competitions that define the modern game.

To mark both the 70th anniversary of the UEFA Champions League and ten years as Official Timekeeper of the competition, Hublot introduced the Classic Fusion Chronograph UEFA Champions League Titanium. Produced in a limited series of only 100 pieces, the watch captures the spirit of the tournament through a design that combines contemporary watchmaking with symbols instantly recognisable to football supporters around the world. Its 42 mm titanium case offers a lightweight yet sophisticated presence, while the blue gradient dial references the colours associated with Europe’s most prestigious club competition. The UEFA Champions League logo appears discreetly on the chronograph counter at three o’clock, creating a visual connection to the tournament without overwhelming the design. Inside, the Swiss-made HUB1153 automatic chronograph movement delivers a 48-hour power reserve, ensuring performance worthy of the competition it celebrates.

The details extend beyond the watch itself. A blue rubber and calfskin strap incorporates a pattern inspired by the competition’s iconic starball, while each timepiece is presented inside a dedicated wooden collector’s box accompanied by an official miniature replica of the UEFA Champions League trophy. Together, these elements transform the watch into a commemorative object that captures the prestige and emotion associated with the tournament.
