PHILIPP PLEIN Cruise 2027: the Return of High-Octane Glamour

Fashion constantly moves between restraint and excess. One season leans toward quiet simplicity, while another reintroduces drama, confidence, and clothes designed to command attention. According to data from the global luxury market, personal luxury goods sales continue to represent hundreds of billions of euros annually, showing that consumers remain deeply invested in fashion as a form of identity and aspiration. And when fashion and Cannes meet, could there ever be a city more naturally connected to glamour?

During the Cannes Film Festival, conversations extend far beyond cinema itself. Red carpets become visual statements, hotel terraces transform into meeting points, and private residences often host some of the most talked-about gatherings of the week. This year, PHILIPP PLEIN introduced its Cruise 2027 Collection in a setting that matched the mood of the occasion: La Jungle du Roi, the designer’s private home in Cannes. Against the atmosphere of the French Riviera and the rhythm of festival evenings, the collection entered Cannes society with confidence and a strong sense of personality.

The setting itself felt closely connected to the collection’s direction. Cruise collections traditionally carry a certain freedom. They speak the language of travel, long evenings, sea air, and wardrobes designed for movement between destinations. PHILIPP PLEIN approached Cruise 2027 through references deeply tied to Cannes itself — film festival style, Riviera evenings, and the energy associated with summers on the southern French coast.

Color plays a central role throughout the collection. Shades of soft blue and pink appear repeatedly, recalling changing skies at sunset and the warmer tones often seen across the Côte d’Azur. Ocean references continue throughout the designs, introducing a visual connection to water and coastal surroundings without becoming overly literal. The collection feels tied to summer memories and evening moods, though it remains unmistakably aligned with the house’s recognizable visual identity.

Decoration appears throughout the collection with a strong focus on crystals. Light catches embellishments across gowns and evening pieces, creating movement and changing visual effects depending on surroundings and atmosphere. Under evening lights, those details create a strong presence, reinforcing PHILIPP PLEIN’s long-standing relationship with fashion built around confidence and visual impact. Elsewhere, the collection introduces contrast through materials and construction. Lighter fabrics are placed alongside crystal details and stronger visual elements, creating balance between softness and structure. Evening gowns repeatedly appear with sleek silhouettes and carefully positioned cut-outs that bring energy and confidence into the collection. The mood feels playful, direct, and unapologetically glamorous.

PHILIPP PLEIN also continues emphasizing craftsmanship throughout Cruise 2027. Attention remains focused on detailing, construction, and pieces designed with a clear visual identity. The collection moves naturally from cocktail dressing into eveningwear, maintaining consistency while allowing different moods and occasions to coexist.

The direction itself also reflects the wider story behind the house. Founded twenty-five years ago by German designer Philipp Plein, the brand developed into one of the largest independent luxury groups globally. Based in Lugano, Switzerland, and fully self-financed, the PHILIPP PLEIN Group today employs more than 700 people and includes additional brands such as Billionaire and Plein Sport. With over 110 mono-brand stores worldwide and flagship locations stretching from Milan and Paris to Dubai, Shanghai, and Los Angeles, the company established a substantial international presence while maintaining a highly recognizable identity.
