Longchamp Marks Two Decades with a Retrospective Exhibition

by s.elective

Fashion has long been shaped by collaborations that bring together different creative perspectives, allowing brands to reinterpret their identity through new artistic voices. While many partnerships last only a few seasons, those that continue over decades become part of a maison’s history, influencing its visual language and strengthening its relationship with successive generations of audiences. These long-term collaborations also demonstrate how fashion can move beyond product design to become a platform for culture, exhibitions, and creative exchange. As luxury houses continue to invest in cultural initiatives, enduring creative partnerships remain among the industry’s most valuable assets.

Longchamp celebrates twenty years of collaboration with American designer Jeremy Scott through a special anniversary event and exhibition at the Maison’s flagship boutique, La Maison Unique, in New York’s SoHo district. Over the past two decades, Scott has reinterpreted Longchamp’s most recognisable designs through his distinctive visual language, introducing collections that combine humour, pop culture references, and unexpected graphic concepts while remaining faithful to the Maison’s craftsmanship.

The anniversary celebration brought together personalities from film, fashion, music, and the creative industries, reflecting the broad cultural influence of the collaboration. Among the guests were actresses Zoey Deutch, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Kate Mara, Emma Roberts, Ashley Benson, Anna Cathcart, Dascha Polanco, Bianca Lawson, and Nikki Rodriguez, alongside singer Lourdes Leon, models Coco Rocha, Joan Smalls, Martha Hunt, Aariana Phillip, and CT Hedden. The evening also welcomed photographer Andrew Tess, internet personality Victoria Brito, podcast host Bailey Taylor, cultural icon Amanda Lepore, performers Aquaria and Symone, while music throughout the event was provided by DJ collective The Misshapes.

The celebration extended beyond a single evening through an exhibition dedicated to the partnership. Presented at the SoHo flagship, Jeremy Scott for Longchamp offers visitors the opportunity to revisit two decades of collaborative work, tracing the creative evolution of one of the longest-running relationships between a luxury accessories house and an independent fashion designer. Could collaborations built over decades become increasingly rare as the fashion industry continues to accelerate its creative calendar?

The retrospective also reinforces Longchamp’s long-standing commitment to supporting artistic expression by presenting both established creative figures and emerging talent within the same cultural programme. Through archival designs, iconic accessories, and visual installations, the exhibition illustrates how a continuing dialogue between designer and maison can evolve while maintaining a recognisable identity.

To mark the anniversary, the exterior of La Maison Unique has been transformed with a monumental installation inspired by Scott’s original Telephone Le Pliage design. Displayed across a striking turquoise façade, the installation revisits one of the earliest creations from the collaboration and reconnects visitors with a design that has become closely associated with its history.

The occasion also introduces a new limited-edition Le Pliage titled Greetings from New York. Developed exclusively for the anniversary, the design pays tribute to the city where the partnership is being celebrated and will be available exclusively through Longchamp boutiques in New York and the Maison’s official online store.

Throughout twenty years of collaboration, Jeremy Scott has repeatedly demonstrated how a familiar silhouette can be transformed through humour, imagination, and references drawn from contemporary culture without losing its recognisable identity. His reinterpretations of Le Pliage have ranged from playful graphic concepts to highly collectible editions that continue to occupy a distinctive place within the Maison’s creative history.

The anniversary offers an opportunity to reflect on the value of creative relationships that develop over time. By combining fashion, art, exhibition design, and cultural programming within a single celebration, Longchamp demonstrates how sustained creative partnerships continue to shape the identity of luxury houses while inspiring new generations of designers, collectors, and audiences.
