Entertainment is increasingly evolving beyond concerts, exhibitions, and cultural institutions. Luxury brands are creating experiences that encourage participation, transforming retail spaces, fitness studios, and hospitality venues into destinations where fashion, lifestyle, and social interaction intersect. Consumers are no longer seeking products alone; they are looking for memorable moments that combine creativity, community, and personal engagement. As a result, experiential entertainment has become an important dimension of contemporary luxury.
This shift is reflected in changing consumer behaviour. According to Eventbrite’s report The Future of Experience, more than 75% of millennials say they prefer spending money on experiences rather than material possessions, highlighting the growing value placed on memorable activities. Supporting this trend, PwC’s Global Entertainment & Media Outlook projects continued growth across the global entertainment and live experiences sector as consumers increasingly prioritise immersive events and in-person engagement. Together, these findings demonstrate how brands are expanding beyond traditional retail by creating experiences that encourage participation and strengthen cultural relevance.

Balenciaga explores this evolving landscape through the launch of TechWear Wellness, an initiative that combines fashion, fitness, nutrition, and contemporary lifestyle experiences. Rather than introducing a collection through a conventional retail campaign, the House presents a series of interactive activations designed to engage audiences in multiple environments.
Developed alongside the TechWear collection designed by Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli, the programme extends the concept of performance dressing into a broader cultural experience. Wellness becomes part of the narrative through dedicated pop-up spaces, curated refreshments, and collaborations that encourage visitors to actively participate rather than simply observe.
Across Paris, Beijing, Shanghai, and Bangkok, Balenciaga introduces temporary wellness destinations serving exclusive smoothies, fresh juices, and nutritional bars created specifically for the project. Drinks featuring ingredients such as marine collagen, cordyceps, ashwagandha, creatine, and pea protein transform the launch into a multisensory experience that combines fashion with contemporary health culture.
The initiative continues through a global partnership with Barry’s, the internationally recognised fitness studio founded in West Hollywood. Selected locations in Los Angeles, New York, London, Paris, Milan, Dubai, Singapore, and Sydney host customised classes featuring Balenciaga Music playlists, branded interiors, exclusive refreshments, and guest appearances, extending the collection beyond the traditional fashion calendar.
Industry experts increasingly view immersive experiences as an essential part of audience engagement. Experience designer Joe Pine, co-author of The Experience Economy, observed: “Work is theatre and every business a stage.” His perspective reflects the growing importance of experiences that invite audiences to participate, creating emotional connections that extend well beyond the initial encounter.
With TechWear Wellness, Balenciaga demonstrates how entertainment has become an increasingly influential element of luxury fashion. By combining design, movement, music, nutrition, and live experiences, the House presents fashion not only as something to wear, but as something to experience collectively through contemporary culture.
