The People Defining Tennis Style

by s.elective

The relationship between fashion and sport has always been shaped by individuals capable of influencing both worlds at once. Athletes, actors, musicians, and creative personalities increasingly gather around sporting events that have become as much about cultural exchange as competition itself. Their conversations, appearances, and shared experiences often define the atmosphere surrounding an event long after the final match has ended. Who leaves the strongest impression today: the champion lifting the trophy or the personalities shaping the conversation around the game?

The growing influence of personalities within sport is reflected in recent research. According to the Deloitte report Sports Fans Insights 2025, 61% of younger sports audiences say that athletes’ personalities, values, and public presence play an important role in how they engage with sport beyond competition. The report also highlights that fans increasingly follow interviews, behind-the-scenes content, and live discussions to better understand the people behind sporting achievements. These findings demonstrate that modern sporting events have become platforms where dialogue, storytelling, and personal identity are as significant as the results themselves. As a result, brands increasingly create environments where meaningful conversations naturally become part of the experience.

This idea came to life during the Soho Grand Slam, where BOSS joined Soho House as the headline partner for fashion and sportswear during one of the season’s most anticipated tennis gatherings. Hosted at Soho Farmhouse alongside the London tennis finals, the weekend brought together personalities from sport, entertainment, fashion, and culture through a programme that extended well beyond the court.

One of the defining moments came with the appearance of Andre Agassi, whose exclusive panel discussion offered guests an opportunity to hear one of tennis’s most respected voices reflect on the contemporary culture surrounding the sport. Throughout his career, Agassi has repeatedly spoken about tennis as a discipline that extends beyond physical performance, emphasising the importance of character, resilience, and personal growth alongside athletic success. His presence added a thoughtful dimension to an event centred not only on competition but also on the people shaping its future.

Across the weekend, members and invited guests moved between tennis matches, padel tournaments, championship screenings, and social gatherings that encouraged conversation as much as participation. Friday’s exclusive dinner, served directly on transformed tennis courts, introduced the programme before the sporting competitions unfolded over Saturday and Sunday. Live broadcasts of the women’s and men’s championship finals allowed guests to experience the decisive moments together, while resident DJs and a headline performance by Katy B carried the celebrations into the evening.

BOSS presented its latest collections throughout every stage of the event, illustrating how contemporary tailoring can accompany different moments of modern life. Performance pieces designed for sport appeared alongside refined tailoring, eveningwear, relaxed summer essentials, swimwear, and casual looks. A dedicated pop-up space also introduced guests to athleisure-inspired collections, exclusive Soho Grand Slam merchandise, and limited seasonal offerings.

The guest list reflected the event’s multidisciplinary character. BOSS ambassador Noma Noha Akugue joined actors Corey Mylchreest and Charithra Chandran alongside figures from tennis, fashion, and lifestyle, creating an environment where different creative worlds naturally intersected. Some demonstrated their competitive spirit on the courts, while others embraced the social atmosphere that developed around the tournament before gathering once again in the Glasshouse for Saturday evening’s celebrations.

The weekend also formed part of BOSS’s broader engagement with international tennis. Throughout the season, the brand has strengthened its connection with the sport through carefully considered style moments, including David Beckham’s appearance at the opening day of the London Championships in bespoke BOSS tailoring and a custom-designed walk-on look created for Taylor Fritz. Together, these appearances reinforce a continuing dialogue between sport and contemporary tailoring, where influential personalities play an increasingly important role in shaping the identity of both.
